throwaway tweets

(2023) Experimental video compilation [46 seconds]- watch on youtube

throwaway tweets is a fast-paced experimental video that reflects on the chaotic legacy of Twitter in the wake of its decline under it's current ownership (he who shall not be named). The piece pays homage to one of the platform’s most enduring cultural products: the throwaway tweet (hence the title). Often absurd, fleeting, and contextless, these posts form the foundation of internet humour and shitpost culture. Through rapid cuts and curated snippets, the work explores the strange ritual of creating content meant to be discarded, yet capable of going viral.

This project was an experiment in editing and conceptual layering. Beneath its humour and lightness lies an intentional meditation on context, authorship, and digital ephemera. Even the silliest works in my practice are deliberately constructed. throwaway tweets allowed me to lean into the ridiculous while questioning how we assign meaning to online 'waste'. Stylistically, the piece continues my exploration of internet culture, media overload, and the blurred lines between sincerity and irony.
